5. I think the most significant thing I have learned in this class this year is that there is always so much more information out there! I thought I was pretty savvy when it came to technology; but this class showed me that my knowledge is just the tip of the iceberg and more knowledge and skills are out there waiting for me to find it all! The amount of teacher resources was also and important aspect of this class. There are so many opportunities to utilize technology in order to make learning exciting and memorable for our students. Technology opens a world full of endless possibilities. I cannot wait to put what I’ve learned to work in the classroom and continue learning every day!

First, www.kidskonnect.com is a great research site for students. There are topics such as countries, math, magnets, ext, and other tools such as a dictionary to help student learn, practice and research a variety of content areas.

www.funbrain.com is an amazing site for students! The games are so much fun! There are lots of stimulating games that help students practice in a variety of content areas.

www.learningplanet.com is full of great science and math lesson plans, games, and content help for both students and teachers. There are some great interactive games in this site!

www.4teachers.org is one of my personal favorite sites. I like that lesson plans from other educators are easy to pull up and give a detailed account of projects, goals and sometimes standards. This is a great site for getting ideas.

Next, www.rubistar.org is a great site for easy completion of rubrics. With the emphasis on documentation recently in education, this is a great site!

www.googleearth.com I know we’ve already had this site but I think it is an essential teaching tool! The site has information and a free download for google earth.

I’m not sure if it counts, but www.ksde.org is an essential site for educators due to the No Child Left Behind Act. Come here for all your standards!

www.lessonplanspage.com is also a great site for getting lesson plans in grades k-12

www.atozteacherstuff.com is a great site for EVERYTHING! There are themes, lesson plans, worksheets, activities and links. This is another comprehensive site for teaching ideas.

www.firstschoolyears.com is a great site for early elementary. There are flash cards, lesson ideas and activities for the early primary grades.

3. Altec is a great one-stop-shop! I believe that educators should have folder of helpful web resources, however, if you are in a hurry or do not want to search through your folder, Altec is the one site to remember! Multiple sites and tools are available through this site. I loved that it included rubistar, thinktank, quizstar, 4teachers and many other, in my opinion, essential sites! I also liked that it provided information on teacher workshops and software for training and teacher use.

2. I thought this site was similar to the United Streaming site in content. Students (or teachers) have the ability to view pictures, movie clips and listen to music through the site. There was yet another resource for the 13 colonies. Arg! I think my lesson planning for the future will be so much easier and more interesting with my new resources. There were also links to professional development videos for educators and events to attend that would help with professional development. I am glad you mentioned that this site was not just for apple users!

1. Upon reading the articles, I was excited how many educators are participating in blog sites and sharing their knowledge. I was also excited to see how many opportunities there are for educators around the globe to communicate and collaborate on ideas. Next, it was refreshing to see that so many educators had the capabilities to engage in technology! I liked that the sites were often specific to a subject. The history blog was directed more at history teachers, however, I think an elementary educator could gain a lot of content knowledge through conversing with educators who had their content degree in history. The answers.com blog was a great blog for a variety of subjects. I liked that the single site could access you to a variety of blogs and a variety of topics. Next, I loved the idea of a high school blog site! I can see how some students may use it to write mean things, but I think it can be used in a great way! How great would it be to have a class blog site?
